If you closed on your purchase by December 31st of last year, you will now be eligible to apply for homestead exemption. For both Miami-Dade and Broward County, the filing deadline is March 1st. Please check your applicable county for their filing deadline date as it may vary. Keep in mind that it is now easier than ever to apply as everything can be done online, check the link provided.
Make sure you review your county’s checklist to ensure that all requirements are met by the deadline. The requirements typically include changing your mailing address on your Driver’s License and vehicle registration, providing a copy of a utility bill, and/or a copy of your Warranty Deed.
